Which is your favourite mode of transportation to visit places around Hong Kong Island? Irrespective of your choices, we can easily and quickly go wherever we want. However, we have almost forgotten the fun of walking around because we can take convenient transportation from one point to another. In the countryside, we are happy to use our feet to embark on physical challenges, or to go look at great scenery. Some people hiked the entire Hong Kong Trail in one go, but have you thought about going around the whole of Hong Kong Island on foot?
Hong Kong Island Coastal Trail (HKICT) is a 65km circular route, the starting point and finishing point at your discretion; clockwise or counterclockwise, just do it your way. Depending on your purpose and mood, you can of course challenge your speed and try to complete the trail in the shortest time, but it is recommended to take your time and get to know the trail. You can visit the trail by sections, spend a few days to enjoy our city, take a break when you feel tired, enjoy a cup of coffee, or find a restaurant for a delicious meal throughout the HKICT route.
Take a walk at the beaches in the Southern District, a staycation option in Hong Kong. (Southern Beaches Walk)

Unlimited Sea View (Tai Tam Harbour @Tai Tam Nature Walk)
The best thing about going around Hong Kong Island is being able to look at the sea all the time. You might see KOLs’ online photos taken at hidden beaches or piers, but you can be close to the ocean by visiting there yourself, listening to the sound of waves with eyes closed. Follow HKICT and search for your dream island scenery! Whether it is colonial history, everyday city life, new technology or nature, the trail has it all. HKICT has eight sections, some of which are relatively easy and suitable for family, some (not all) sections are pet-friendly and wheelchair friendly, and there are also challenging routes to choose from.

Stroll along the waterfront of the Victoria Harbour, finish one promenade after another. (Eastern Harbour Walk, Western Harbour Walk)

Arrive the west of Hong Kong, visit the historic buildings, and enjoy the sunset by the sea. (Mt. Davis Coastal Walk)

If there is a “rock zone” to appreciate sea view, these 8,000 statues have the most wanted seats. (Aberdeen Harbour Walk)
HKICT sometimes goes under highways, but it does not take long to reach another promenade. When the weather is good, you can also see the city view of Kowloon and its mountain ranges. At the Southern end of Hong Kong Island, walking past beach after beach, and then a lengthy catchwater, you will then climb to the top of Dragon’s Back, and everything else is worthwhile.

To get a panorama view at the high point. (Long Dragon’s Back Walk)
The port is for transportation, cargo and logistics. (Chai Wan City Walk)
