TrailWatch “Joy in the Countryside” Awards 2017
With the growing popularity of recreational hiking in Hong Kong, more people are finding enjoyment from being out in nature. But that doesn’t mean we should forget the importance of guarding the countryside, which is why this year, TrailWatch is organising the “Joy in the Countryside” Awards.
Every month, TrailWatch will select a featured user. At the end of 2017, we will screen all our users and pick the one who has covered the most distance as our “Hiking Beast”; while the user with the most outstanding photo will be awarded our “Mountain Moment” prize; and the user who has consistently lodged the most valid incident reports will be crowned our “Guardian of the Countryside”.
▲ Featured User
On the fourth week of each month, TrailWatch will publish a “Featured User” on www.trailwatch.hk. Users will be chosen based on the amount of activity they have logged on TrailWatch, including the distance covered, number of reported incidents and photo uploads.
1. Hiking Beast
The user who has logged the most number of kilometres in 2017 using TrailWatch will be named the “Hiking Beast”. In addition to distance covered, we’ll also take into consideration whether the hiking logs and records were created in country park areas. The TrailWatch Hiking Beast is no imposter: one must expend the blood, sweat and tears to be worthy of this title.
2. Hiking Beast
Every week, TrailWatch reviews and showcases photographs uploaded by users to reflect Hong Kong’s natural splendor. During the fourth week of every month, TrailWatch would select one of photos showcased during the month as a “Mountain Moment”. At the end of 2017, TrailWatch would pick one photo from the 12 Mountain Moments of each month as the Mountain Moment of the Year. If you can wow us with a smartphone photo, you’re our star.
3. Guardian of the Countryside
Hong Kong’s country parks are under all sorts of threats, and we at TrailWatch would like you to join us in protecting them. TrailWatch follows up on the reports lodged by users and, based on the frequency and legitimacy of the reports, we will select the “Guardian of the Countryside” of 2017. Join us in monitoring our country parks and ensure that those who try to destroy them won’t get away with it.
