Consider going for a walk along the trails near reservoirs in Hong Kong in the summer? Here are two recommended routes – TrailWatch was invited by Urban Spring earlier to share two trails along selected reservoirs in Hong Kong with their fans. The two trails are both convenient to get to, with one of them being wheelchair-accessible. TrailWatch hopes that everyone can enjoy hiking!

Wheelchair-accessible: Tai Tam Tuk Reservoir
TrailWatch accepted the invitation from Wheel Power Challenge to go hiking at Tai Tam with the female wheelchair users of the Association of Women with Disabilities Hong Kong last month.
The starting point of this accessible route is Tai Tam Road. You may go there by car or bus (No. 14*). You can enjoy the scenic views at Tai Tam Tuk Reservoir and even touch the historic Masonry Bridge. The route ends at the wheelchair-accessible picnic and barbecue areas, where you can have some rest and then head back to town.

* The bus stop is located on a road with heavy traffic. Electric wheelchair or manual wheelchair users are advised to be accompanied by families or friends.

World Class Geo Site: East Dam of High Island Reservoir
Located in the east of the High Island Reservoir (the largest reservoir in Hong Kong), East Dam is part of Hong Kong UNESCO Global Geopark. It is a popular place for stargazing and watching sunrise. Visitors can have a close look at the stunning volcanic rock pillars which are hundreds of millions years old.
You can get there from Pak Tam Chung and then walk 10km along the MacLehose Trail or book the round-trip bus at the Sai Kung Volcano Discovery Centre.
