Let’s go over the 4 tips we covered previously: First, choose your departure time carefully and avoid being in exposed places for long periods at around noon (11 am – 2pm). Since the sun sets late in summer, even if you leave at 4pm, you can normally still finish your hike before sunset at 7 pm, or you can take a summer night walk.

Second, people sweat more in summer. We recommend bringing more drinks than usual, with water as the first choice. You can also bring along some salt to replenish what the body has lost.

Third, clothing matters. You should wear light-coloured clothes, a hat, sun protection sleeves and sunglasses, and also prepare an umbrella for unexpected weather.

Most importantly, pick a shady short trail, one with gentle slopes that can be completed in 2 hours, and with plenty of exit routes so that you can leave the trail and reach a safe place easily if a situation occurs.
