The 40th Anniversary of MacLehose Trail

For the 40th Anniversary of MacLehose Trail, the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (“AFCD”) has prepared various celebration activities. As one of the supporting organisations, you can find out the activity records of MacLehose Trail from different users on TrailWatch website.

“Complete Walk on MacLehose Trail 2019” has started for more than a month and many hikers have already accepted the challenge. It is TrailWatch’s honour to be one of the supporting organisations, the activity records from different users can be found on TrailWatch website. MacLehose Trail is the first long trail in Hong Kong launched in 1979. The trail has 10 sections with a total length of 100km across eight country parks from the east to the west of Hong Kong. The trail was once listed as one of the “20 Dream Trails of the World” by the National Geographic. Since this September, the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (“AFCD”) has prepared various activities to commemorate the 40th Anniversary of MacLehose Trail including a series of promotional video to show the breathtaking scenery along the trail.

MacLehose Trail Section 4: Continuous Challenges】Run through the mountains with Leanne Szeto, Hong Kong Triathlete

TrailWatch users can create an account on the website of Complete Walk on MacLehose Trail 2019 then choose “TrailWatch” as your group. Make sure to pick the trails according to your physical conditions and ability. Those who complete 5 sections or above by the end of November 2019 will receive a souvenir from AFCD! The MacLehose Trail Section 2, 3 and 6 are now the recommended routes on TrailWatch’s website. After checking in at the checkpoints of each section of the MacLehose Trail, remember also to start the TrailWatch app to record your journey and share the most signature hiking trail in Hong Kong to your friend on social media!

In addition to the above, the AFCD is organising a wide range of activities to encourage the public to visit and learn about the MacLehose Trail. Activities including “Public Talk: The Legendary MacLehose Trail”, “MacLehose Trail Campers”, “Excursion with Experts at MacLehose Trail” and more.
