It is often said that Hong Kong's urban environment is adjacent to its natural surroundings, and this small land harbours rich biodiversity, with various wildlife species inhabiting the coastal and terrestrial habitats. From mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, and butterflies to dragonflies, Hong Kong is home to diverse wildlife. The book "Wildcreatures of Hong Kong" is an illustrated guide that provides species descriptions, scientific names, distribution information, and intriguing facts about the animals, serving as a comprehensive resource for the public to explore the world of wildlife in Hong Kong.

The Chinese version of the book, titled 《香港野》, consists of a total of 356 pages, featuring 20 species of snakes, 17 species of lizards, 5 species of tortoises, 14 species of amphibians, 52 species of birds, 18 species of mammals, 291 species of insects, and some marine animals, totalling 375 species. Each species is accompanied by photographs in the book , and it also includes fold-out diagrams and a 4-page species identification guide, making it easy for the general public to explore the biodiversity of Hong Kong.

Renowned international wildlife photographer Robert Ferguson is the author of the English book. With the support of the ZeShan Foundation, the book was translated into Traditional Chinese, re-edited, redesigned, and named. To promote environmental awareness among local students, Encompass HK, a local social enterprise, will assist in distributing the book free of charge to over 900 local primary and secondary schools. School outreaches and arranged visits will also be organised as part of the initiative.
