2021 TrailWatch Summer Internship Programme – Project Intern
TrailWatch is a privately funded initiative that promotes enjoyment of nature trails and protection of Hong Kong’s environment. Our programmes inform and educate the public about Hong Kong’s natural environment, our outings promote sustainable and inclusive hiking, and our mobile app facilitates users to plan, track and share their hiking experiences, create group events, and report incidents.
We invite undergraduate or graduate students to apply for our 2021 summer internship programme. As an intern, you will gain valuable experience from working closely with our dynamic team. This role is particularly suitable to those who enjoy outdoor activities, the natural wonders of Hong Kong, and who take an interest in conservation, preservation, sustainability and community building in Hong Kong. Responsibilities:
- Conduct research in areas relevant to our fields of study about Hong Kong’s nature, including country parks, as well as natural heritage
- Assist in designing, monitoring and executing projects, campaigns or events
- Assist in communications, including social media campaigns and preparation of monthly newsletter
- Assist in website and app maintenance and revamp
- Assist in analysis of user data to understand the usage of country parks and user habits
- Support administrative tasks, such as meeting minutes, translation and carry out other documentation practices
Desired Skills & Experience:
- Undergraduate or graduate students from following majors are welcome:
- Science, Ecology, Environmental Sciences, Geography or other related majors
- Journalism, Media, Communications, Translation, History or other related majors
- Interested in mobile applications and website development / maintenance
- Proficiency in written English and Chinese, fluent in Cantonese
- Detail-minded, organized, energetic, proactive, fast learner and can self-manage
- Experience using MS Office application software and Google G-Suite environment
- Willing to work outdoors on some weekends and public holidays
- Passion for hiking and environmental protection
- Basic understanding of biodiversity and environmental issues is an advantage
Internship Details:
- Summer semester: July – August 2021 (8 weeks internship programme)
- At least 3 days a week
- The internship can be a mixture of remote work with some in person meetings with the project supervisor
- The internship will be remunerated at an amount determined by reference to number of days of work and other factors
