– Hey you…
– No worries, fruit scraps break down in nature!
– They actually take very long to break down. Take your litter home!
Banana peels are often spotted along the trails. Hear what megaphone has to say, “ fruit scraps don’t decompose as easily as you think!”
-
Temperature, soil conditions and other environmental parameters might not facilitate complete decomposition. It can incur hygiene issues and affect wild flora and fauna
-
With the numbers of hikers frequenting our countryside, the speed of fruit peels decomposition will never outcompete the speed of their accumulation.
-
A lot of the fruits we eat are non-native species imported from abroad. If their seeds sprout to life, it might adversely affect the local fauna.
-
Pesticides remaining on fruit peels will enter the nature and affect flora and fauna.
[Megaphone’s announcement] When we are in nature, please respect the environment and act responsibly. Minimise your impact by always following the “Leave no trace and bring your litter home” rule. Let’s enjoy in nature and coexist with it in harmony.
