Striding into its second year, the TrailWatch app has now released a new version with a completely different and more user-friendly design. It is much easier to plan, record and share your hikes. You may also search for stunning routes recommended by TrailWatch and generated by other users.
In the new interface, you could find your full hiking record from the “Dashboard”. Total distances of your journeys, the accumulated calories burnt and your average speed would formulate your profile. You could simply press “Start New Record” to continue your hiking journey.
“Browse” is where you could search Featured routes categorized by different themes: you could look for routes suitable for different seasons, aim for particular types of scenery, choose between paths dotted by nature or heritage, or select a trek oriented towards families or beginners. You could look for routes by region and see what is nearby with your GPS on. The routes you bookmarked and planned are placed in the “Browse” section as well.
“Plan” is the section for you to plan your route beforehand. The route is automatically plotted after setting the start and end points with a few simple taps on the map. You could adjust the via-points and add Points of Interest with ease. The route planned would be saved under “My Routes” in the “Browse” section. It is served as an interactive map during your hiking and could be downloaded by your fellow hikers.
“Map” is more than a simple map, but indicated the recent incidents reported by users. Besides, you may report an incident posing a threat to nature with GPS on. There are four map layers you could choose from. OpenCycleMap and MapQuest show maps outside Hong Kong and will be very useful during your stay abroad. You may change the map layer and cache the map when you have access to wifi.
But one thing remains unchanged – TrailWatch app is available for FREE as usual, an avenue for us to illustrate our determination in protecting our nature and country parks.
TrailWatch app is now available at both google play and app store.
